A hearty and cheesy baked pasta dish featuring jumbo shells stuffed with seasoned beef and ricotta, topped with marinara sauce and melted mozzarella.

Ingredients

Pasta

  • 12 count Jumbo pasta shells (Cooked al dente and cooled)
  • 1 lb Ground beef 80/20
  • 1 small Yellow onion (Finely diced)
  • 2 cloves Garlic cloves (Minced)
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning (Oregano, basil, thyme blend)
  • ½ tsp Salt (Adjust to taste)
  • ¼ tsp Black pepper (Freshly ground)
  • 1 cup Ricotta cheese (Whole-milk)
  • 1 cup Shredded mozzarella (Divided)
  • ½ cup Grated Parmesan (Plus extra for topping)
  • 1 large Egg (Lightly beaten)
  • 2 tbsp Fresh parsley (Finely chopped)
  • 2 cups Marinara sauce (Divided)
  • 1 cup Tomato sauce (Optional extra for saucy bake)
  • ½ tsp Red pepper flakes (Optional for heat)

Instructions 

  • Cook pasta shells until al dente, then rinse with cold water and cool.
  • Sauté ground beef with diced onion and garlic, season with herbs, salt, and pepper.
  • Mix ricotta, mozzarella, Parmesan, egg, parsley, and beef mixture in a bowl.
  • Stuff shells with cheese-beef mixture and arrange in baking dish, then top with sauce and cheese.
  • Cover with foil, bake until bubbly, then uncover and brown. Rest before serving.

Notes

For a richer flavor, let the stuffed shells rest for 10 minutes before serving.
