A quick and flavorful stir-fry combining tender beef, caramelized onions, and rice, all coated in a savory sauce. Perfect for a satisfying weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

For the Sauce

  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • ½ tsp black pepper

For the Fried Rice

  • 2 cups cooked rice (preferably day-old, cold rice)
  • 1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 medium onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn, etc.)
  • 2 eggs lightly beaten eggs
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil (divided)
  • 2 green onions sliced (for garnish)
  • optional Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions 

  • Whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, and black pepper to prepare the sauce.
  • Stir-fry sliced beef in 1 tbsp oil until browned, then set aside.
  • Cook onions until golden, add garlic, then scramble eggs in the same pan.
  • Add rice and vegetables, stir-fry for 3–4 minutes, then return beef and pour sauce over. Toss to combine and heat through.
  • Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Serve hot.

Notes

Use day-old rice for best texture and flavor.
