A delicious fall-inspired pastry combining pumpkin, maple, and nuts for a cozy treat.

Ingredients

Pie Crusts

  • 1 piece pie crust

Pumpkin

  • 0.25 cup pumpkin purée (not pumpkin pie filling)
  • 1 egg egg (separated)
  • 0.125 cup maple syrup
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar (divided)
  • 1 tbsp maple extract
  • 0.25 cup chopped pecans
  • 0.25 cup chopped almonds
  • 1 tbsp pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 tbsp caramel sauce
  • 2 tbsp cream cheese icing

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Roll out pie crust and prepare pumpkin filling with egg yolk, maple syrup, 2 tbsp brown sugar, maple extract, and half of the nuts.
  • Spread pumpkin mixture on the crust, cut diagonal strips on sides, and braid over the filling. Brush with egg white mixture.
  • Bake for 45 minutes until golden. Drizzle with caramel and cream cheese icing, then top with remaining nuts. Serve warm.

Notes

For a richer flavor, toast the nuts before adding.
