A delicious and natural apple butter made with simple ingredients, perfect for spreading or snacking.

Ingredients

Fruits

  • 6 medium apples (choose a sweet variety like Gala or Honeycrisp)
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar (or water)
  • 1/2 Tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • pinch sea salt

Instructions 

  • Place cored and sliced apples into a slow cooker with vinegar and spices. Cover and cook on low for 5-6 hours.
  • Puree the cooked apples using an immersion blender or transfer to a blender until smooth.
  • Turn the slow cooker to high and cook uncovered for 1-2 hours to thicken.
  • Let the apple butter cool for 30 minutes before transferring to containers. Store in the fridge for up to 3 weeks or freeze for up to a year.
