Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a 13x9-inch baking dish, whisk together sliced onion, French onion soup, broth, and rice.
Distribute butter on top, add chicken, then sprinkle cheese and onion soup mix.
Cover with foil and bake for 1 hour 15 minutes, then remove foil, add fried onions, and bake 15 more minutes.
Ensure chicken reaches 165°F (74°C) internal temperature before serving.
Notes
For extra flavor, let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving.
