A quick and flavorful shrimp stir fry packed with vegetables and a savory sauce, perfect for a weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Sauces and liquids

  • 1/4 cup low sodium chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1/8 teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger (or ginger paste)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Cooking oils

  • 2 tablespoons canola oil

Main protein

  • 1 lb shrimp peeled (deveined and tails removed)

Spices and notes

  • Chinese five spice (see notes)

Vegetables

  • 1 red pepper sliced julienne
  • 2 cups broccoli florets cut in bite size pieces
  • 8 ounces snow peas
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 2 scallions chopped

Instructions 

  • Peel, devein, dry and season shrimp with Chinese Five Spice.
  • Whisk together broth, soy, vinegar, sesame oil, sriracha, honey, red pepper, garlic, ginger, and cornstarch.
  • Cook onions and broccoli in 1 tbsp oil for 1-2 mins, add red pepper and snow peas, cook until crisp-tender.
  • Cook shrimp in 1 tbsp oil until done, then add sauce and vegetables, cook until thickened and warmed.
  • Sprinkle with scallions and serve immediately.

Notes

Use fresh vegetables for best flavor and texture.
