A hearty and easy baked pasta dish featuring meatballs, cheese, and flavorful marinara sauce, perfect for a comforting family dinner.

Ingredients

dry pasta

  • 12 ounces dry rotini pasta
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 24 ounces marinara sauce
  • 14 ounces frozen meatballs (thawed)
  • 1 cup chopped bell pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (divided)
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese (freshly grated)
  • fresh herbs (optional) (parsley or basil)

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • Add rotini, marinara, water, bell pepper, meatballs, salt, and 1 cup mozzarella to a baking dish, then stir to combine.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 35 minutes.
  • Remove foil, stir pasta, sprinkle remaining mozzarella and Parmesan, then bake uncovered for 10 minutes.
  • Let rest for 5 minutes, garnish with herbs if desired, and serve.

Notes

For extra flavor, add fresh herbs before serving.
