Delightful, flaky scones infused with warm cinnamon and cinnamon chips, perfect for breakfast or tea time.

Ingredients

Dough

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (frozen and diced)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cups cinnamon chips
  • heavy cream for brushing
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
  • Cut in the frozen diced butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Mix in sour cream and egg until just combined.
  • Fold in cinnamon chips. Turn dough onto a floured surface and gently knead. Pat into a 1-inch thick circle and cut into wedges.
  • Place scones on a baking sheet, brush with heavy cream, and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  • Mix powdered sugar with milk and cinnamon to make glaze. Drizzle over cooled scones before serving.
