A quick and flavorful stir-fry combining tender beef, sweet onions, and savory sauces, perfect for a satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Meat

  • 1 lb beef (flank steak or sirloin), thinly sliced
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced

Oils and Aromatics

  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp ginger, minced

Sauces and Liquids

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/4 cup beef broth or water
  • 1 tsp black pepper

Garnishes

  • to taste Green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • optional Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions 

  • Toss beef with 1 tbsp soy sauce and black pepper; marinate 10 mins.
  • Heat 1 tbsp oil; stir-fry beef in batches until browned, then set aside.
  • Add remaining oil; stir-fry onions 4-5 mins until soft and caramelized.
  • Add garlic and ginger; cook 1 min until fragrant.
  • Mix soy, oyster, hoisin sauces, sesame oil, and broth; return beef to pan, add sauce, and stir.
  • Add cornstarch slurry; cook 1-2 mins until thickened. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles for a complete meal.
