A flavorful and aromatic rice dish infused with herbs and cooked in chicken stock, perfect as a side or main course.

Ingredients

Rice

  • 1 cup long grain rice (washed and rinsed)
  • 1 to 2 cups chicken stock (depending on the cooking method)
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ to ¾ teaspoon dried herbs (oregano, rosemary, marjoram, thyme, parsley, etc.)
  • ¼ teaspoon turmeric (optional) (mainly used to add color)
  • 2 to 4 tablespoons butter
  • to taste salt salt

Instructions 

  • In a pot, melt the butter over medium heat.
  • Add the rice and sauté for 2 minutes until lightly toasted.
  • Pour in the chicken stock, add herbs, garlic powder, onion powder, turmeric, and salt. Bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes until rice is cooked and liquid is absorbed.
  • Remove from heat and let it sit covered for 5 minutes before fluffing with a fork.

Notes

You can add cooked chicken or vegetables for a complete meal.
