Warm up with this cozy, dairy-free chai-spiced hot chocolate, perfect for chilly days and cozy evenings.

Ingredients

Coconut Milk & Water

  • 1 cup canned light coconut milk (choose a smooth, creamy brand or sub dairy-free milk)
  • 1 cup water (replace with more dairy-free milk if not using canned coconut milk)

Cocoa & Cacao Powder

  • 2 Tbsp cocoa powder (or cacao powder)

Dates

  • 3-4 large medjool dates medjool dates (pitted)
  • 1 ½ tsp cinnamon
  • 1-1 ½ tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/8 tsp ground cardamom
  • 1 pinch sea salt
  • 1 pinch black pepper (optional)
  • 1 pinch ground nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 pinch ground cloves (optional)

Toppings

  • Coconut whipped cream
  • Marshmallows (vegan-friendly as needed)

Instructions 

  • Add all ingredients to a high-speed blender and blend until smooth, about 1 minute. Taste and add more dates if needed.
  • Transfer to a saucepan and heat over medium, stirring until steamy, about 3-5 minutes.
  • Serve warm topped with coconut whipped cream or marshmallows.

Notes

Adjust sweetness by adding more dates as desired.
