A flavorful and creamy Cajun shrimp pasta perfect for a quick weeknight dinner with bold spices and tender shrimp.

Ingredients

Protein

  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 small shallot, finely chopped
  • 1/2 regular bell pepper, sliced thin
  • 80 g pasta (penne, fettuccine, spaghetti)
  • 8-10 shrimp shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • Pinch salt and pepper (for seasoning shrimp)
  • 0.5 tsp Cajun seasoning (for shrimp)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (or cooking spray)
  • 0.5 tsp smoked paprika
  • 0.5 tsp Cajun seasoning
  • 0.5 tsp cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 0.5 tsp dried parsley
  • 0.5 tsp chilli flakes (optional)
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 to 0.75 cup half and half cream
  • 0.25 cup pasta water (add gradually for sauce)

Instructions 

  • Season shrimp with salt, pepper, and Cajun seasoning. Sear in oil for 2-3 minutes per side until pink. Remove and set aside.
  • Cook pasta in salted water until al dente. Reserve 0.25 cup pasta water, then drain.
  • Sauté garlic and shallots. Add bell pepper, paprika, Cajun seasoning, cayenne, parsley, chili flakes, and salt. Pour in cream and gradually add pasta water to reach desired sauce consistency. Simmer.
  • Return shrimp to pan, add cooked pasta, and toss to coat. Simmer for 1-2 minutes. Serve hot.

Notes

Adjust cayenne for spice preference and garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
