Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare pans and line with parchment.
Beat butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs, egg yolks, vanilla, and mix.
Mix dry ingredients; alternate adding to batter with milk mixture. Divide into pans and bake 30 minutes.
Make caramel frosting: boil sugar, butter, cream, syrup, salt; add powdered sugar, vinegar, vanilla. Cool until thickened.
Assemble cake: layer with frosting and chopped pecans. Frost sides and top. Garnish with pecans and salt.
Notes
For best flavor, toast pecans before chopping and adding to the cake.
