A warm and spiced pear cobbler perfect for cozy autumn evenings, combining tender pears with aromatic spices and a buttery crumble topping.

Ingredients

butter

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)

pears

  • 4 medium pears (peeled and chopped into about 1/2-inch pieces)

sugar

  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar

flour

  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour

spices

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

crumble topping

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar (firmly packed)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • pinch salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (cold and cut into 1/2-inch cubes)
  • 1/4 cup milk

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Mix chopped pears with 1/4 cup sugar, 1/4 cup flour, cinnamon, salt, and vanilla. Spread in a baking dish.
  • Combine crumble ingredients: flour, brown sugar, baking powder, spices, and cold butter. Mix until crumbly.
  • Sprinkle crumble over pears and top with sanding sugar. Bake for 40 minutes until golden.
  • Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a splash of bourbon to the pear mixture.
