Enjoy a warm, aromatic cup of traditional masala chai, infused with spices and brewed to perfection.

Ingredients

Liquid

  • 3 cups water
  • 3 cups whole milk (or plant-based milk)

Tea & Spices

  • 5 tbsp loose leaf black tea (Assam)
  • 1 inch piece ginger (sliced)
  • 10 whole cloves
  • 15 pods green cardamom pods
  • 1.5 sticks cinnamon sticks ((about 2 inches))
  • 5-10 tsp brown sugar
  • 15 peppercorns black peppercorns
  • 5 star anises
  • 0.5 tsp fennel seeds

Instructions 

  • Combine water, spices, ginger, and tea in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Add milk and sugar, heat until steaming, then simmer for a few minutes.
  • Strain into cups and serve hot.

Notes

Adjust sugar and spice levels to taste for a perfect cup.
