Ingredients

Oil

  • 1 tablespoon oil (vegetable or olive)

Aromatics

  • 2 cloves garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 piece onion, finely chopped

Main Protein

  • 1 lb ground beef

Sauces & Oils

  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar

Broth & Liquids

  • 1/4 cup beef broth or water

Carbohydrates

  • 4 cups cooked white rice

Garnishes & Vegetables

  • 2 green onions green onions, sliced
  • Sesame seeds Sesame seeds, for garnish
  • Steamed broccoli or other vegetables Steamed broccoli or other vegetables (optional), for serving

Instructions 

  • Heat oil in a skillet, sauté garlic and onion for 2 minutes.
  • Add ground beef, cook until browned, about 5 minutes.
  • Stir in soy sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, and brown sugar; cook for 1 minute.
  • Add beef broth, simmer until sauce thickens, about 2 minutes.
  • Serve over rice, garnish with green onions and sesame seeds, add vegetables if desired.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a splash of rice vinegar or chili flakes.
