Delight in these flavorful oatmeal bars layered with sweet apple butter and crunchy nuts, perfect for a quick snack or dessert.

Ingredients

Dry ingredients

  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon cinnamon

Butter

  • 1 cup butter (at room temperature, cubed)

Filling

  • 2 cups apple butter

Nuts (optional)

  • 0.75 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9" x 13" pan with parchment paper.
  • Mix oats, flour, sugar, salt, and cinnamon. Work in butter until crumbly. Reserve 2 cups of mixture.
  • Press remaining mixture into pan, spread apple butter over crust, then sprinkle nuts if using. Top with reserved streusel.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden. Cool, then cut into bars and serve.

Notes

Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage.
